Top 5 Types Of Women to Avoid in Online Dating - August 5, 2008 -
In response to a previous article I wrote entitled The 5 Types of Losers on the Internet, a few people asked me what I thought were some of the types of women to avoid online. So here, in my opinion, are the warning signs on a profile of a woman you should avoid. Keep these in mind when youre out there surfing MySpace and trying your best hand at online dating.
5. The Bedroom Model
This woman posts what looks like a professional modeling picture on her profile, yet on further examination you quickly realize its a carefully Photoshopped picture of her in her bedroom. This woman claims she is a professional model, yet has no photos of herself anywhere outside of her profile. This woman is usually mildly attractive but gets herself overrated by about 3 points through seductive posing. Unless you want to be disappointed, dont bother with these women. Sure, her profile picture looks like Jessica Simpson, but when you meet her in person shes closer to Homer. Watch those Photoshop artists!
4. The Womans Picture is Only of One Feature of Her Body (I.E. her breasts, buttocks, or a tattoo)
This woman is generally fat and has no saving grace other than the little sliver of her body shes determined to sell to the public. Youll never see a full body picture of these types of women either, because she cant fit her whole body in the lens unless the picture taken from an extreme angle. No, shes not doing those fisheye lens effects because she likes them; shes doing it because shes a sumo wrestler.
3. Women Who Take Photos with a Male Best Friend
Weve all seen this one. This woman is generally very attractive, and you would hit on her if you knew whether she was single or not. Well she is single, but her best friend has first dibs if he can ever convince her hes not gay.
2. The Stupid Song Lyric Chick
This woman changes he username every time a new catchy song hits the airwaves. Hey, they arent talking about you in those songs! Come on back to reality! No one wants to see your milkshake, go back to high school. We know youre really 16, and were not trying to be on the next episode of Dateline NBCs To Catch a Predator!
1. The Dangerously Emotional also known as The CRAZY
This chick is clearly out of her mind, yet cute enough to make you consider it. She has the crazy Photoshopped pictures, a dark layout, and an overly dramatic username/blog. She claims the whole world is out to get her. Yes, we are. We all are logging on everyday just to pick with you because youre that important. Yup. Me, the next guy, and your shrink are all in it together. Its all an evil plan to bring you down. I guess were caught! Might as well cry and blog about it!

Know the truth: Those self-satisfied married people arent so satisfied. Hey, most of them are downright miserable. Dont believe me? Look around. Go into any family restaurant on a Friday evening, and check out all the couples that dont make eye contact. Observe the husbands and wives who speak to the children but not to each other. Go to the mall on a Sunday afternoon and watch the Christmas shoppers. A far cry from what you see in the diamond ads, eh? Be happy that you are not stuck in a dull marriage! Decide that if and when you marry, youll do it for the right reasons, not because you hit a certain age, your parents were nagging you, you want children, or you want to make your friends feel bad because you bought or received a bigger diamond than they did.
Come up with a snappy answer. When some moron eyes you over the Christmas turkey and asks, Arent you ever going to get married? Just respond, Why do you ask? If the inquisitor persists, smile enigmatically and say, Im too young to get married. Say this even if youre fifty. If your mother starts piling on the guilt about giving her grandchildren, tell her you hate kids. Suggest that she sponsor an unfortunate child for twenty dollars a month through a worthy charitable organization. Never allow yourself to be drawn into conversations about what it is you do to repel the opposite sex.
Walk into every party like a winner. Sit down at every dinner table as if youre the guest of honor. Be quietly confident. Smile. Walk tall. Sit up straight. Feel good about yourself. Adorn yourself in clothes that flatter you (women, the poncho may be the rage, but if it makes you look like a sack of onions, put it down; men, avoid wearing baseball caps at all costs). Do not walk into a party hoping that someone will notice you. Walk into a party expecting to be noticed.
Be proactive. Instead of waiting around for invitations, host a party of your very own. Give the event a sheen by preparing a trendy drink. Make an investment and pour it into appropriate glasses. For an elegant effect, start the night by playing Mozart or jazz renditions of holiday classics. Keep the party lively later on by spinning Moby or the latest U2. Be the star you are and dress up. (If you want something more casual, Super Bowl parties are a blast, even for those of us who dont understand football.) Invite singles and couples from work, church, wherever. The more the merrier, so tell guests to bring a friend. Be sure to ask a married couple or two to prevent the vibe of a singles mixer, but avoid inviting couples that stand around talking about their children all night.
Understand that being single is a good thing. Look, youre not tied down to anybody. Your life is full of possibilities. Every day is an adventure. You can travel as you like, buy clothes as you like, date as you like. Married people cant. Decide not to give up your freedom until someone truly worthy comes along. This is powerful. When you sit around waiting for the right person to show up, nobody will. But once you decide to enjoy your life, often somebody wonderful and worthy will appearand sooner than you expect.
