Having a child who is gifted can be a joy and a curse. It is a joy because, if done correctly, you have a child with a thirst for knowledge. However, the curse can be that it can be difficult to keep gifted students focused on things which do not hold an interest for them. How do you keep gifted children interested in the tasks ahead?
This can be challenging because, and rightly so, public schools are usually not geared toward educating gifted children. Those children, if truly gifted, are a tiny percentage of any student body. Some schools respond to this by offering programs for gifted students or by having specific schools for gifted students. Both are reasonable responses. However, for the parent of gifted children, you might want to explore what else is out there.
There are two online high schools which focus specifically on gifted students. While the schools are certainly not for everyone and your child will need to meet specific entrance requirements, they are both outstanding choices.

While we sweat over our entire body our dogs don’t have the same advantage. Many people don’t realize that dogs do sweat or just figure it is the same as humans, but dogs only sweat from the pads of their feet and from their mouth by panting. So with dogs having less surface area they can’t dissipate the heat from their body as easily as we can. Care must be taken during outings and when were out jogging.
Since our dogs would rather be with us than left at home and only want to please us, they will do their best to keep up with us. Since their body is not able to release the excess heat as quickly as we do they may get overheated and possibly collapse.
Always carry a good fresh supply of water for both you and your pet. There are many different types of containers to make it easy for your pet to drink out of without having to carry a bottle and bowl with you.
Care must always be taken when your pet is out in the sun, exposed areas like their ears nose or recently trimmed areas are vulnerable to sun burn. Some vets even recommend sun-block to be used on their dogs. But, be sure to discuss it with your vet prior to using any type of lotions on your dog as they may be very harmful.
So, be sure to avoid over exercising your dog during the high heat and humidity days. If you really must take a run with your dog, be sure to wait until the late evening when the bulk of the heat has dissipated or get up earlier before the heat starts to rise. Remember that the young, older and those who are not healthy are more susceptible to heat stress. In closing if your skin burns, so will your dogs. Your pet needs his bottle of water too! And never ever think that just 5 minutes in a car is ok, leaving your dog in the car is just signing their death warrant!

Would you like to go to university without actually having to be at university? Thats not a riddle, folks. Im just trying to give you an idea of the possibilities of studying online. That has got to be a revolution in our educational system, and I fully believe it is a good thing to have happened, since it can bring about a more highly educated populace in the near future.
So have I piqued your interest in the potential of online learning? Well, now is the time to get into it, as it has never been easier to find an online program in virtually any field of interest. In fact, I am somewhat envious of todays students who have such a wealth of online study opportunities and options. Many of the classes I myself took in college were not, back then, available as online learning courses. I imagine that if I had been given the chance to study Accounting in the ease and comfort of my desk at home, I would have ended up with far better grades! But my missed opportunity is now yours for the taking.
Of course, I dont actually regret my college experience. Aside from what I learned, I enjoyed a great social life there, and I would have missed that if I had studied online instead.
