Choosing your Wedding Photographer

Weddings our one of the most important days in our life's, the photographic memories can treasured for the rest of our lives, its vital you choose the right photographer to capture your golden day!

To help you decide your wedding photographer Ive put together a few questions I believe are worth asking to photographers you consider. Underneath is a description to why it's worth asking and I've also answered the questions myself Questions to the photographer: (hopefully different questions to what you've seen in wedding magazines)

Q. How long have you been doing professional photography? (Thats not how long have you had a compact camera, thats how long have you been paid for your photographs, youd probably be surprised as I was about the amount of people who got a nice camera for Christmas so they decided to shoot weddings) A. I started studying photography 17 years ago, since then I've worked in full time photography and continued my training to keep up with modern techniques

Q. How long have you been shooting digital? (Digital photography is different and a lot harder to understand than film photography as most digital cameras have something like 20 times the settings to a film camera, so someone who's just got a new toy probably doesnt know the best way to use these settings) A. I've dabbled with digital editing for about 7 years and been shooting digitally professionally for about 2 years

Q. Have you done any kind of formal training & do you continue with it? (Photography has changed dramatically with in the past few years, I find it vital to stay in tune with modern technique, this is your golden day, and these photographs cant be captured again) A. I studied for 4 years at school & college. & To this day I continue my training with Seminars, Books, DVD's, experimenting

Q. What else do you shoot? (It's good to get a little idea of what else the photographer shoots as some might only shoot the odd wedding as they usually do a different type of photography) A. I mainly shoot weddings, then portraits & events and also graduation portraits.

I hope you've found these questions helpful, please contact me with any other questions or requests shaun@shaunscottphotography.co.uk
