Job Interview Question and Answer - July 16, 2008 -

No matter what anyone else will tell you, there are ways to answer specific questions during an interview, as well as things you should NOT say. An opportunity for the prospective job applicant to share his or her talents, is the basic reason for an interview. You may know that you are the right person for the job, but the employer would like the opportunity to acknowledge that as well. An employer may need a very people-oriented person, and what better way to see if an applicant can fill that void, by meeting the applicant face-to-face. A resume may look impeccable on paper, but many employers are always on the lookout for just the right person to fill that position. Usually the one in charge of hiring may be penalized if the employee happens to NOT work out for the establishment.

Not too many employers nowadays hire a person over the telephone, without first meeting with the prospective employee at least once. Even if a friend or a family member works at the same establishment as you are looking to get a position at, the employer still tends to want a small interview. Many people who are hired sight unseen, can eventually come back to "bite" the employer in the end!

This may leave one to believe that the job interview process a bit on the discriminatory side. As far as the business world is concerned, it is not so much as discriminatory as it is having a discerning eye (and ear)! If one were to walk into a job interview having rolled out of bed with a pair of bleached-spotted sweatpants and a stained tee shirt, you have just told the employer that they are not worth the effort for you to look good for. on the other hand, if you happened to dress sharp and enter the room smiling and freshly groomed, the interviewer will look upon that as a good sign you are trying to leave a good impression.

Much of the job interview question and answer is a simple get-to-know-you step that an employer often times feels obligated to utilize. I do not care how cheap I need to be, but I will never buy an unlabeled canned good, would you? I mean, I am just as much of a risk-taker as the next person, but that is going just a bit too far! Who's to know if the product is cat food or potted meat? (Okay, either way, that's gross, but you get my point!) In order to get the position you so desire, the best selling point you can give, revolves around properly describing one thing - yourself! Because after all, you can never top a first impression, or so the saying goes.
